Navigating the Publication Flood with Connected Papers and the ORKG

How to keep an overview over relevant contributions? How to make the actual contents of a paper FAIR? In this seminar, we will introduce two services that aim for a solution.
ConnectedPapers.com is a unique, visual tool to help researchers and applied scientists find and explore papers relevant to their field of work.
It started as a weekend side project between friends. When we saw how much it improved our own research and development workflows - and got more and more requests from friends and colleagues to use it - we committed to releasing it to the public.
The Open Research Knowledge Graph organizes knowledge from papers, software and datasets using semantic descriptions. This allows researchers to easily discover and cite relevant knowledge, and also allows publishers and scholarly societies to easily harvest and share not only metadata, but also the actual content of a paper. The ORKG can be used improve the discoverability, reuse, and impact of research articles.
We will introduce both tools and present a workflow to organize research from different scientific fields with machine assistance. From finding papers to making their contents FAIR, this seminar will show researchers, libraries and publishers how to stay atop the publication flood.
