Much research has been published on the assessment of the environmental impact of textiles using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method. This comparison presents an analysis of some of the publications made on the environmental impact assessment of cotton textiles, and provides valuable information for identifying hot spots that have considerable potential for reducing the environmental burden of cotton textiles. The main features were reviewed and critically analysed: functional unit, system boundary, data sources and geographical location, impact assessment methods and impact categories.
