Transition energies of highly charged ions is a topic of much interest in atomic physics. In the laboratory, the observation of the emitted radiation requires high technology plasma sources and precision measurements from dedicated spectrometers. The spectrum emitted by HCIs is also of utmost interest for the interpretation of astrophysical sources; therefore, fundamental for recent and future space observatories. Here is a comparison of the reported spectrum originating from Iron HCIs produced in the laboratory. The majority are from electron beam ion traps (EBIT).
