Lockdown mandates in response to the COVID-19 pandemic had significant effects on vehicular traffic activity (outlined in a previous comparison) and other human activities (e.g., industry, etc.) that contribute to air pollution. This comparison explores the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns around the world on air pollution from ozone (O3), mainly as a result of changes in traffic activity. Papers included in the comparison were identified through a Web of Science search that included the following search terms: "COVID-19" & "lockdown" & "air pollution" & "road traffic." Selected papers include those that were either open access or accessible through the University of Leibniz, Hannover Technical Information Library, and that provided information on the percent change in ozone pollution during COVID-19 lockdowns compared to pre-lockdown times.
