The development of laboratory X-ray laser has been intensively pursued since the 1970s, and more so since the unambiguous demonstration in the 1980s. An important research effort has been put in the development of table-top experiments that can be readily applied
in the imaging of fast nanoscale objects. This comparison is centered in the demonstration of a successful Ni-like (Hy-like) , high frequency X-ray laser, using double pulse ultra intense pump laser schemes. Emphasis is made in differentiating the amplified and saturated transitions of the various elements that are used. The complex laser set-ups required, are also referenced.
